The interesting point here for the average motorist in today's economic climate, is that Pirelli tyres were actually recommended by the tyre retailer or fitter. This is not actually saying that Pirelli tyres were chosen by most people or were the top-selling products by volume. The point here is that professionals within the tyre industry are recommending them to customers who had not specified a preference.

This of course is a great credit to Pirelli Tyres because many customers depend upon the professional advice of their suppliers and any retailer worth his salt is not going to make any recommendations that could in any way damage their business or lose customer retention. The actual figures show that Pirelli Tyres came top of the poll with 8% of all recommendations; up by almost half a point on that manufacturer's 2009 performance in the Encircle Marketing survey. Indeed this reflects great credit on Pirelli Tyres, not only for coming top but also for achieving a greater margin than previously.

According to a Pirelli Tyres spokesperson, the results of this survey confirmed their team's hard work in taking appropriate steps to ensure that their products are the most desired in the marketplace. This of course reflects current brand perceptions of Pirelli Tyres which have been developed in part by a reputation for technology and manufacturing excellence. At the same time, prominent participation in motor sport, which has long been seen as ‘improving the breed', has also undoubtedly contributed to giving Pirelli Tyres a more prominent profile in the minds of professionals and public alike.

However it's fair to say that without a committed and focused wholesale and retail distribution network it is unlikely that Pirelli Tyres would have made such a prominent appearance in the rankings. Indeed, the recommendations stem from within this network itself so it's clear that Pirelli Tyres is offering not only outstanding and desirable products but also high levels of dealer support including a fast and reliable supply chain and fist class sales and technical support. Moreover, Pirelli Tyres is extremely pleased with this result, seeing it as a confirmation of how hard their team has worked to ensure that both their tyres and service are of the highest standard possible.
